Northern VIP offers BenQ LEDs to indy VARs

BenQ jockeys for top spot in emerging LED display market

Posen Wang and team: LED backlighting [left] will replace straight LCD in two years

BenQ has signed up Cheshire based VIP Computers as the sole smaller specialist distributor of its latest LED-backlit monitors.

Mark Adams, product and distributor manager at BenQ, said the VAD started offering its latest business and consumer monitors from 1 October.

“We have got the two broadliners – Ingram Micro and C2000 – and we did not want another. VIP is an up-and-coming niche distributor with very strong contacts in the independent reseller channel,”said Adams. “VIP will help us grow in a wider market – not everyone wants to buy from a broadliner.”

VIP’s historical distribution of Acer and ASUS offerings promised potential synergies with BenQ. It has access to the same range as Ingram and C2000, and is expected to build its BenQ sales up gradually through the next two quarters, Adams said.

Posen Wang, LCD line of business manager for Europe at BenQ, said the vendor has launched a swathe of new LED monitors, and plans by November to be the first vendor to offer a full range of business-focused LED displays.

“We think that in two years LED[-backlit] monitors will replace [straight] LCD displays in the market. It will be a revolution like when CRT was replaced by LCD,” he said.

BenQ’s LED-backlit monitors have superior vertical alignment, ultra-wide viewing angles, eye protection, height adjustment, and environmental efficiency, said Wang. The company also released a gamer-designed, 2ms refresh, 3D and HD ready LED monitor, he added.
