Adobe Ventures into online training arena
Adobe?s venture capital arm, Adobe Ventures, has invested in a Web-based training company, Digital Think, which provides a range of online Java and application courses.
The direct-sell company allows users to buy direct access to courses run by industry-recognised names, and promotes collaborative learning by encouraging trainees to email their classmates to compare notes.
Adobe Ventures, run in partnership with Hambrecht & Quist, did not reveal the extent of its funding, though it normally operates in the range of $500,000 to $3 million. The company?s charter restricts it to firms that are ?strategic to Adobe?s software business?.
During 1996, Adobe cashed in its venture stakes in Netscape, Luminous and Siebel Systems ? investments which contributed $69 million to its bottom line.
