AEP launches SME NAC offering

Vendor hails benefits of NACpoint Small Office

Network security vendor AEP has launched an SME network admission control (NAC) product that it has claimed will allow VARs to revisit existing customers.

NACpoint Small Office will be targeted at departmental deployments and small office end-users. Paul Vick, vice-president global channels at AEP, said: “We realised that resellers faced two demands: first, firms looking at deploying smaller NAC areas such as conference rooms; and second, it was the early adopters who were making deployments and they were only looking to do small implementations.”

Vick said NACpoint can secure the network and check whether remote users are clean before they re-enter the network. He said the product would be restricted to NAC-certified resellers in the Gold level or above in the vendor’s partner programme. “Between 30 per cent and 70 per cent of a NAC deployment is services, so we have to ensure VARs are trained.”

Steve Jennings, managing director of security VAR Think Secure, said: “This is a great account management tool because there are still very few end-users correctly controlling the end-points, so we can revisit existing customers and gain new ones.”
