WRQ enters EAI

Systems management and connectivity vendor WRQ will give its channel access to the enterprise application integration (EAI) market, after acquiring EAI vendor SuperNova Enterprises for an undisclosed sum.
The buyout will extend WRQ's product range beyond its host connectivity focus and will allow it to retrieve data from 30 different databases, enterprise resource planning applications and customer relationship management software, said Steve Cauble, UK general manager at WRQ.
Cauble said WRQ would like to use existing partners to sell the products but said it will have to change the profile of partners it needs and concentrate on consultancy organisations and system integrators. He said WRQ would like to have five consultants and three system integrators signed up within six months.
He said: "This buyout presents new challenges for us because we are going after the EAI market in a big way. But we are on to something here, with the customer initiative and demand for EAI products and the users waiting for someone to help them pull it off."
The SuperNova brand name will be dropped but WRQ will maintain the company's European offices, 80 employees and technology partnerships with vendors such as Computer Associates and Unisys.
