Centrix Software lures in new VARs

Application monitoring software vendor adds new VARs to burgeoning partner community

Lewis Gee: Virtual desktop deployments can be challenging for VARs

Application and infrastructure monitoring specialist Centrix Software has bolstered the size of its VAR base with a slew of new partner signings.

VARs Phoenix Software, Prolinx, Richardson Eyres, Xceed Consulting, Nebulas Solutions Group and Aegis IT have all been appointed over the last three months to help drive sales of its WorkSpace software.

The products provide users with information about how their applications are being used, which in turn helps them to pinpoint those best suited for use in virtual desktop environments.

Lewis Gee, vice president for worldwide sales and marketing at Centrix, cited the challenges surrounding virtual desktop deployments as a key driver behind the channel’s interest in the firm.

In the past, a lot of virtual desktop deployments have stalled because of the complexity of the processes involved and the difficulty VARs have had with delivering a fast enough return on investment (RoI), said Gee.

“To virtualise a desktop, it often requires the implementation of new servers and storage in the datacentre and there is little or no RoI to be gained.”

However, with many users only utilising “50 to 60 per cent” of the applications on their workstations, sifting out those that are not needed can help save costs, he said.

“By understanding usage patterns, you can start to make better decisions about the best way to deliver applications, which can help save money on software licensing.”

Will Barrett, business development team leader at Phoenix Software, added: “The level of detail that Centrix WorkSpace can provide is extremely valuable when you are looking at license usage and consumption, as well as showing where new investments can provide better results.”
