PGP wants NetShare of partners
Data encryption vendor plans to expand its UK channel
Data encryption vendor PGP has announced plans to expand its UK channel, following the release of its latest network storage server encryption product.
PGP, which currently has about 20 UK partners, said that NetShare works with multiple network storage devices and keeps file contents encrypted. The vendor is looking for no more than 10 additional UK VARs.
Andrew Kreik, vice-president of marketing at PGP, told CRN: “It [NetShare] is a high-value product that will receive fast recognition from end-users, and generate a good services opportunity.”
The vendor has also claimed that the release of NetShare will create a significant increase in sales for its existing UK partners.
Christopher Evans, managing dir-ector of VAR Oak Systems, said: “The market opportunity is enormous because so few people encrypt their data these days. So few vendors have reached critical mass with an encryption product, but I can’t see PGP making much of an impression.”
PGP has previously attempted to grow its UK partner base. In 2002 the vendor announced plans to expand its UK partner network, after the rights to its encryption software were bought by former employees (CRN, 23 October 2002).
