PC Disposals set to ease channel's WEEE misery

Online pricing tool will allow VARs to obtain a quote for disposal instantly, helping to reduce costs

Easy PC: the recyling specialist aims to take away VARs' recycling headaches

Recycling firm PC Disposals is looking to take away VARs’ WEEE woes with a new pricing tool and discount programme.

The company currently works with about 10 resellers, including Computer World Wales, Transputec and BT Engage IT. It handles desktops, laptops, servers, monitors and printers for resale, recycling or refinement, and also offers data destruction.

Managing director Tim Hayden said: “WEEE is not profitable for our partners. But they need to offer that cradle-to-grave solution and we can take away the headache.”

PC Disposals has unveiled an online pricing tool allowing VARs to obtain a quote for collection and disposal instantly. A pricing structure is also being launched, with Platinum, Gold and Silver levels offering varying discounts depending on volume of business.

Hayden revealed his firm handles WEEE for 1,600 end users and said he wants to work with more VARs.

“We can help a lot of smaller resellers,” he added.

Trade body ITACS recently rallied against the burden the WEEE Directive places on system builders.

Matthew Woolley, chairman of ITACS, said: “Anything that can reduce costs and help with compliance is a good thing.”
