Logitech goes to Westcoast

Distributor signs up with peripherals vendor

Westcoast, one of Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) main distributors, is broadening its vendor horizons by signing a distribution deal with Logitech for its range of core PC peripherals.

Andy Dow, commercial director at Westcoast, said: “As from today we will be selling the majority of Logitech’s products, including webcams, mice and keyboards.

“We will take the products into the retail market. A lot of independent retailers are looking for a wider range of solutions,” he added.

Dow claimed the deal will enable resellers to use Westcoast as a one-stop-shop for all their peripherals.

Logitech’s range of products also include digital imaging devices, keyboards, speakers and headsets and interactive gaming controllers.

Chris Spearing, Logitech’s country manager for UK and Ireland, said: “We’ve shown double-digit growth over the past seven years and are almost a $1.5bn firm. This figure is set to double over the next few years so we need to broaden our distribution.”

Bob Tarzey, service director at Quocirca, said Westcoast has made a sensible move. “Logitech sell a huge range of computer peripherals which are largely complementary to the core technology sold by HP,” he said.

“This helps Westcoast develop another line of business alongside its HP business and other suppliers, such as Acer and Samsung, and it offers its own customers a broader range of products from a single source.”
