Novell approach sees two new programmes
Novell wants to push partners into emerging markets
Novell is launching two additional channel programmes this week to propel its partners deeper into emerging markets.
In the UK, Novell currently classifies partners under its EMEA PartnerNet Programme, which consists of three tiers: Silver, Gold and Platinum. However, CRN understands that the vendor’s two new programmes will run alongside PartnerNet.
Chris Papayianni, area general manager for the western region at Novell, told CRN: “There will be two new channel programmes. One will be based around the increasing identity management market, and one that will seek to extend our Linux programme.”
Papayianni added that specific details on either programmes were yet to be decided, but he claimed that announcements would be made to partners this week. The programme announcements follow Novell’s decision to increase contact with partners from a bi-monthly basis to a weekly basis. It will also offer selected VARs and distributors the chance to take part in a demand-generation scheme (CRN, 8 May).
John Adams, managing director of Novell VAR Mintra, told CRN that identity management is a strong area for Novell, and that it also has a successful Linux distribution business.
“Identity management is the jewel in the crown for Novell,” Adams said. “It has a clear lead over other vendors in that space, so it makes sense to make that a separate channel programme.”
Novell Platinum VAR Associated Network Solutions recently won a £90,000 contract to implement an enterprise identity management system for the Association for Payment Clearing Services (CRN, 26 May).
