Net service plays only to dealers
Stuart Greenfield, former MD at distributors Aashima Distribution and Peacock Computers, has launched an Internet service provider aimed squarely at dealers.
Industry veteran Greenfield, also a former marketing director at Northamber and Frontline, has launched the new company, New Enterprise Technologies (NET), as a joint venture along with distributor Hardware 2000.
Greenfield, now an independent marketing consultant has also been marketing director at Hardware 2000.
NET is using a lease-line to BT Net, and intends to offer a packaged 'end-to-end' Internet solution that dealers can sell on to customers.
NET is charging u4,000 in the first year for a customised Web site, with real-time pricing update and multi-site email.
Greenfield said it would also offer a basic Web space at u50 a month for firms that want to design their own sites. But he said a number of service providers were already undertaking low-margin business.
Hardware 2000 is trying to recruit another 50 UK resellers in the UK for its Epic range of PCs. The distributor said standard PCs could be delivered to dealers across the country overnight and customised PCs within three days, which would allow dealers not to have to hold stock.
