HP acquires Ibrix

Once agreed, deal will see Ibrix integrated into HP's StorageWorks division

HP has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire file-serving software vendor Ibrix for an undisclosed amount.

The transaction is subject to certain closing conditions and is expected to be completed within the next 30 days. Once closed, the Ibrix business will be integrated into the StorageWorks division within HP’s Technology Solutions Group.

Ibrix is a privately held company with 53 employees and more than 175 enterprise customers in sectors including communications, media, entertainment, oil and gas, and healthcare.

Jeff Hausan, vice president of unified storage, StorageWorks, HP said: “Customers need highly scalable storage solutions that efficiently and cost-effectively manage massive amounts of information. This acquisition expands our portfolio to better support the needs of this market segment.

“In addition, Ibrix’s software leverages industry-standard hardware, allowing customers to fully maximise their existing investments.”

Milan Shetti, chief executive of Ibrix, said: “Joining forces with HP is a natural fit for our customers, resulting in an enhanced storage solution that scales to meet their data growth.”
