Websense training move fits in with UK resellers
Vendor extends programme from one-and-a-half to three days to accomodate VARs
Web security vendor Websense has revamped its certification training and tailored it more towards the UK channel.
Working in partnership with distributor Unipalm, the vendor has extended its certification course from one-and-a-half days to three days.
Frank Coggrave, regional director at Websense, said: “We have made this change because it allows our partners to better deliver services and solutions to their customers. Over the past couple of years our products have changed to incorporate a lot of security protection and this training reflects that.
“We have used Unipalm’s training expertise to provide a course that really does work well with the channel.”
Coggrave added partners will take part in a range of hands-on workshops during the training which include configuring Websense products and installing them in different environments. He said Websense’s other distributor, InTechnology, would also be providing training, and was currently going through training itself.
Dave Ellis, director of e-Security at Unipalm ,said: “Sometimes vendors will try to implement a US training programme in the UK, and more often than not it doesn’t fit partners in Europe at all. As a result we have been working with Websense to put together a programme that we felt was appropriate for the UK channel.
“Websense has had a strong market performance overall and that is fuelling demand for this kind of course. We are seeing a lot of interest from our reseller base,” he said.
Separately Websense has launched the latest version of its Websecurity Suite – version 6.2, which it has claimed has additional features such as controlling Bot networks and deep packet inspection.
