Pohler to take top job at Tech Data Europe

Tech Data Europe has strengthened its top-level management team, appointing Computer 2000 veteran Karl Pohler as president.

The distribution giant has lured Pohler away from his position as president of the board of management at Sony's German arm.

From 30 September, Pohler will have responsibility for Tech Data's business operations. He will also be appointed chairman of the management board of C2000 Germany, and member of the Tech Data Germany management board.

Marketing director Pertti Ervi took over the division after the company was left without a European chief, following the resignations of Manfred Gunzl and Harry Krischik (PC Dealer, 16 June).

Steve Raymund, chairman and chief executive of Tech Data, said: "Karl's broad executive management experience and knowledge of the European IT distribution market are ideal for this position."

- Ingram Micro's staff exodus appears to have reversed. Neville Ebanks has returned as national sales manager, Lex Wallet as components sales manager, and Lloyd Pinder is also rumoured to return.
