Hardware Focus: Microcom makes SoHo connections

US remote access provider Microcom has introduced Carbon Copy 32, the latest version of a remote control software package designed for students and home users.

The upgrade, which is compatible with previous Carbon Copy versions, allows users remotely to access files and applications on any PC running Windows or Dos-based applications. It will simultaneously connect up to 256 PCs, and has password security and options to hide selected directories from other users.

The product supports connection through different communication methods such as a modem line, local area network or the internet.

General manager for Europe and the Middle East Martin Perry said: ?We developed Carbon Copy 32 in response to our customers? demand for a feature-rich, easy to use, 32-bit solution that is compatible with every Microsoft operating system.

?This new product provides the most comprehensive solution for remote access available today.?

Speed is increased by the product?s ability to ignore unnecessary graphics such as large bit maps and splash screens while transmitting information.

It also has a Windows 95 GUI helping to speed up remote connections.
