IP replacement for Juniper

Vendor launches high-end addition to multi-protocol networking range

Juniper Networks has launched a high-end addition to its multi-protocol networking range, designed for large enterprises and carriers to consolidate traffic running on different communications protocols onto IP.

The M320 Multiservice Edge Platform can handle 320Gbps throughput, double that of its previous M-Series offering.

It consolidates ATM, Frame Relay and Ethernet data into IP, to run on a high-speed Multiprotocol Label Switching network.

Benjamin Ellis, Juniper Networks' EMEA product marketing manager, said: "The internet is huge, but there is no guarantee you won't miss voice over IP or critical web services information.

"On the other side, there is a list of private networks that are comparatively reliable and powerful."

Kevin Mitchell, directing analyst at Infonetics Research, said: "Juniper's vision of a more business-class IP network and core services is shared by many carriers and vendors alike."
