Networking specialist Right Vision has introduced the Eye-box which offers users plug-and-play IP connectivity.
The system integrates hardware and software to enable companies to run internet, intranet and extranet services. According to John Mahony, vice president of global operations at Right Vision, the product is an "all-in-one router and server offering plug-and-play IP connectivity".
About the size of a large pizza box, the Eye-box can be adapted for use by businesses of all sizes. "The Eye-box is very scalable and can be a high-end or low-end product. For example, it can work with hosting companies equally as well as in small to medium sized enterprises [SMEs]," said Mahony.
The device is priced between £2000 and £3000 depending on configuration, and can host a website as well as email, and is suitable for SME companies adopting ebusiness strategies. "The Eye-box is simple to configure because all you have to do is plug it in and turn it on," said Mahony.
The simplicity of this type of product is also drawing attention from resellers in the large corporate sector. Martin Stocker, marketing manager at reseller Tplc, said: "We cover the corporate market and multi-vendor products, but we are looking at the developments of dedicated appliances that could fit into the corporate space.
"At Tplc, our belief is that we would support any distribution model which makes the most sense, and we also believe that the Eye-box will be best served if the product is sold through the reseller and distributor channels."
Mahony said: "Right Vision is in the process of interviewing distribution and reseller partners."
