McAfee hits IDS with writ number two
Antivirus software manufacturer McAfee has issued a second writ against its former reseller, International Data Security, (IDS) for alleged infringements of copyright and trademarks.
McAfee claimed IDS was continuing to download products from McAfee?s Web site on to its own bulletin board despite the termination of its reseller agreement in March.
Caroline Kuipers, European marketing manager at McAfee, said: ?IDS?s conduct has been unprofessional. It was selling McAfee without paying for it ? we need to protect out intellectual property rights.?
Nigel Lewis, general manager of IDS said the reseller was unable to comment at this time pending legal guidance, but was hoping to make a statement this week.
According to a statement released by McAfee, IDS has denied selling the antivirus vendor?s products.
IDS recently signed a deal with Dr Soloman?s, McAfee?s main competitor in the anti-virus software market (PC Dealer, 13 August).
