VIP talks up AMD
Distributor announces new stock of AMD Phenom II Processors
Andrew Buxton: AMD can provide a platform-level solution that exceeds expectations – all at a competitive price
Components and peripheral distributor VIP Computer Centre has announced it will stock AMD’s latest product range, the AMD Phenom II X3 and X4 processors.
The range offers processing speeds of up to 3.0GHz, delivered through triple- and quad-core designs. Multi-core processing supports advanced multi-tasking, so VIP aims to cater for system builders that offer customers high-performance machines.
With a nod to the eco-conscious, VIP argues that higher processing speeds mean the systems spend less time processing and more time in idle mode, where the AMD Phenom II processors have been designed to take less power. Cool ‘n’ Quiet 3.0 technology is another energy-efficiency selling point.
Anyone building systems for high definition entertainment, gaming, creativity and “the realms of the masses” will benefit from this technology, VIP claimed.
Lee Gordon, CPU product manager at VIP, said: “AMD extended the value and lifespan of its dragon platform technology with the new additions of the AMD Phenom II 45nm AM3 processors, including the industry’s only 45nm triple-core processor.
“We have seen excellent sales since launch of the triple-core AMD Phenom II 45nm AM3, especially the black edition. With no other manufacturer offering a triple-core within the market this is a great processor to compete with dual-core.”
Andrew Buxton, UK managing director of AMD, said: “AMD can provide a platform-level solution that exceeds expectations – all at a competitive price. "
He confessed that this is “a substantial performance boost over the previous generation of AMD Phenom processors.”
VIP is offering its customers the full range of AMD processors, he argued, providing the best value for money across a wide range of price points.
