Laser printer sales are on the up, claims IDC

The hardcopy peripherals market in EMEA will return to growth this year as more economies pull out of recession, according to market analyst IDC.

IDC has said that shipments are set to rise 2.8 per cent a year from 2009-13, led by colour laser multifunction devices, which expect a 19.5 per cent growth rate.

Monochrome lasers should grow 9.1 per cent a year until 2013.

However, IDC analysts warned that recovery may be fragile, given that the economies of Spain, the UK, Russia and the Ukraine shrank in Q3.
