Pano Logic opens up Windows for VARs

Vendor hopes "Windows 7-ready" product will help resellers, but rival says it is slow off the mark

Pano Logic gives resellers a hand in capitalising on Windows 7's popularity

Pano Logic has launched an updated version of its zero client virtual desktop, which aims to help channel partners cash in on the popularity of Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system.

The Pano System product has been made “Windows 7-ready” to entice end users requiring a desktop refresh to accommodate the software into the deployment of a virtualised environment.

John Kish, chief executive at Pano Logic, said the launch of Windows 7 has led to the “PC refresh cycle starting anew”, giving partners the chance to capture new business.

“Every time there is any kind of sea change in the IT industry, such as a major launch like Windows 7, it presents an opportunity to make money,” he said.

To support the launch of Pano System 3.0, the vendor is upping the recruitment drive it launched in January, when it announced it was looking to sign up 120 partners in the UK and Germany.

Pano Logic is specifically targeting partners operating in vertical markets including the public sector, retail, healthcare and education.

David Angwin, director of marketing for EMEA at rival desktop virtualisation vendor Wyse Technology, said Pano Logic’s decision, six months after the release of Windows 7, could leave it lagging behind the competition.

“We offer a wide range of virtual desktop products that support lots of different types of operating systems, including Windows 7, already,” he added.
