NetApp gobbles up Onaro
Storage vendor boosts manageability portfolio with acquisition
Storage vendor Network Appliances (NetApp) has entered into an agreement to acquire Boston-based vendor Onaro.
NetApp said acquiring the privately-owned storage service management vendor would strengthen its storage and data management offerings.
Tom Georgens, executive vice president for product operations of NetApp, said: “NetApp is very excited about the breakthroughs it can achieve for its customers with the addition of Onaro to its manageability portfolio.
“This deal is not just a first for the industry, but also a new opportunity for customers to rethink their large-scale storage infrastructures-and gain extra confidence in the strength of modular systems to manage the biggest data challenges out there.”
For Onaro, the acquisition ensures research and development and financial strength to enhance its product development for the future.
Doug McNary, chief executive of Onaro, said: “Onaro is excited and look forward to joining the team at NetApp. NetApp global channels and its powerful brand will accelerate Onaro's ability to address the growing worldwide demand for its products.”
McNary added: “Our technologies and strategies are very complementary and will enable the combined firms to offer customers comprehensive storage management for the data centre.”
