EVault targets SMEs with launch of business service

Online data protection vendor unveils business continuity consultancy service

Online data protection vendor EVault has unveiled a business continuity consultancy service designed to reduce the impact of business interruptions and system outages on SME business data.

The service, which is fulfilled through resellers, is targeted at SMEs and forms part of the vendor’s existing professional services portfolio. EVault has claimed that the market is currently devoid of such offerings and added that the service will consist of enterprise-class business continuity consultants with up to 18 years experience.

Phil Gilmour, chief executive of EVault, said: “Ensuring business uptime through business continuity is a critical initiative. One hundred per cent uptime has become the new standard for today’s businesses.”

Initially, EVault’s consultants will define SMEs’ requirements by conducting workshops to identify critical business functions and evaluate current recovery capabilities, for example.

Consultants will then develop recovery strategies and continuity plans for end-users. The service can be used in conjunction with the vendor’s online backup and recovery technology, but it can also be used on rival technology platforms.

William Hurley, senior analyst at the Data Mobility Group, said: “SMEs in particular can benefit from this by relying on knowledgeable professionals who can help determine ‘the how, when and why’ of data protection and business continuity.”

Last month, EVault appointed Dana Loof as its vice-president of marketing, together with Wendy Lukas as vice-president of human resources. EVault claimed the appointments will help to support its future growth.
