GTCO CalComp votes for more resellers in UK

Vendor unveils plans to sign a further five to 10 partners with expertise in the education market

Interactive technology vendor GTCO CalComp is hunting for VARs to help it expand its share of the UK interactive voting system market.

Rob Meissner, vice-president of marketing at GTCO CalComp, told CRN: “We entered into the interactive voting market about two years ago when we acquired EduCue, a manufacturer of audience response systems. We currently have a 10 to 15 per cent share of the UK voting systems market with our InterWrite PRS [Personal Response System], but we are looking to expand our reach in the UK.”

He added that in the US 75 per cent of the firm’s business is in universities, but in the UK there is more of an even split between higher education and primary schools.

“We’re looking for resellers with expertise in the UK education market,” Meissner said.

John Elliott, sales manager for EMEA at GTCO CalComp, said: “Art Systems and Micro Peripherals are our distributors in the UK and we currently have about five resellers, but are looking for more. I would say an additional five to 10 would be ideal.”

Colin Messenger, senior consultant at analyst Decision Tree Consulting, said: “GTCO CalComp makes a wide range of interactive products, but could do with appointing a more audiovisual-focused distributor.”

Andy Collard, account manager at Art Systems, said: “We’ve been a distributor of GTCO’s since 1985 with its digitiser products, but have been selling the InterWrite voting systems for four-and-a-half years. The voting product tends to be sold mainly into the higher education and training markets than primary schools.”
