Microwarehouse seals Xyratex deal
Dublin-based Microwarehouse has won a distribution deal with storage vendor Xyratex.
The broad-based distributor has also signed Allied Telesyn and is in talks with one of the top three networking vendors in a bid to boost its line-up of networking contracts.
Microwarehouse said that it needed an external drive manufacturer, such as Xyratex, to complement its business in Seagate internal drives.
John O'Reilly, senior account manager at Microwarehouse and former Xyratex employee, said: 'I heard Xyratex was looking for distributors in Ireland and I had a previous relationship, so we approached them and got the contract. We have a sub-distribution agreement with Syquest, but this is better because it's direct.'
Microwarehouse joins UK-based storage distributor CMS Peripherals, which also distributes Xyratex products through its Irish subsidiary.
The Irish distributor, which had a turnover of u10.3 million last year, has no connection with the UK-based mail-order company of the same name.
Microwarehouse also sells Microsoft, Lotus and Adobe, among others.
