IBM goes wild to plug Jungle Book

IBM Multimedia Studios undertook its first European voice activated product launch on Saturday (25 May) at London Zoo with a simultaneous phone-in competition on Capital Radio's breakfast show to win five Aptiva multimedia home PCs.

Chris Tarrant encouraged listeners to get down to the zoo for the launch of Jungle Book, which included an adopt-an-animal promotion. On Sunday a scratch card promotion began in the Funday Times, the children's section of the Sunday Times, offering a u35 rebate on the u339.99 PC CD-ROM and the chance to win one of five jungle safaris.

Initially, only 2,000 copies of the product will ship to PC World, Byte, some Dixons high street stores, indies via Gem Distribution and possibly Toys R Us in London and south-east England. It will be rolled out to major cities in the rest of the country at a later date.
