Oracle uses Paris show to woo Vars

Database vendor Oracle is to push harder to win channel players at its Developers' Conference in December.

Steve Kelly, alliances director of EMEA at Oracle, said: 'This is a life support system for the entire channel. Channel players can get pre-released software and SDKs over the Web. This is a major care and feed programme.'

The conference will be held in La Defense, Paris, from 10 to 12 December.

Kelly predicted that as many as 3,000 software developers and a total of 13,000 individuals will attend.

'One of the feedbacks we got is that (developers) go to thousands of conferences,' he said. 'This time the channel will be able to talk to over 40 US product managers, and even to Larry Ellison. They will be able to test almost 10,000 hours of software.'

Oracle's two-tier distributor model, which includes Sphinx, Level V and Azlan, will co-ordinate its channel recruitment.
