HP raises stakes in 3Par bidding war

HP ups ante against Dell in fight for storage specialist

HP has revised and increased its offer for 3Par

HP hopes its revised bid for 3Par will be enough to derail Dell’s plans to buy the storage vendor.

Over the past five days the two hardware vendors have been embroiled in a bidding war for 3Par’s assets, which include its cloud-enabling product portfolio.

Yesterday, Dell announced that it had matched HP’s earlier bid of $1.6bn (£1bn) for the firm and that its revised offer had been accepted by 3Par’s board.

However, HP has come back aggressively with a $1.8bn offer.

Dave Donatelli, executive vice president of enterprise servers, storage and networking at HP, said its revised offer is superior to its rival’s.

He said: “Not only is our offer superior to Dell’s proposal, HP remains uniquely positioned to execute on this combination given the number of synergies between the two companies.”
