Ingram steps into CHS breach with WStore contract

Online reseller WStore has appointed Ingram Micro as its main UK distributor following the collapse of its former distribution partner, CHS.

Online reseller WStore has appointed Ingram Micro as its main UK distributor following the collapse of its former distribution partner, CHS.

The agreement was signed following a review of competing companies, based largely on the distributor's ability to integrate its own ecommerce system with WStore's back office.

Ingram is already a supplier for WStore in Germany and Switzerland following a deal made last year, and the reseller had been looking to expand this deal to other European countries, including the UK, by the end of 1999.

Tony Price, managing director of WStore UK, said: "Our back office systems will only allow for one automated supplier, and with Ingram's standard worldwide information system, it made the company easy to deal with."

In common with other resellers, WStore was caught up in the fall-out from CHS's closure, as it used CHS as its sole supplier. Following the collapse, WStore turned to Ingram and Computer 2000 to supply its customers, but had to update its systems manually.
