- Computer 2000?s parent company Viag last week said it is to restructure the distributor?s US business. C2000 owns a majority stake in troubled US wholesaler Ameriquest. It has no plans to sell the subsidiary.
- Action Computer Supplies is dubbed one of the most attractive investments in the IT sector, according to analyst Richard Dyett of Henderson Crosthwaite. He forecasts profits of #4.8 million this year, and #6 million in 1998.
- Abtex has emerged as the winner in a nine-horse race for the contract to maintain the City of Glasgow?s PCs. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
- RK Distribution has ?amicably? parted company with disk drive vendor Micropolis.
- Techex chairman David Randall has departed Blighty to set up a distribution firm in Australia, serving the Pacific Rim.
- Bay Networks has lost 20 UK-based staff from Bay Europe. Ten jobs were cut through redundancies and the others over performance issues.
- Ex-Data Guardian MD Clive Cooper last week resigned from Data Tec UK, which was created with the merger of DG, Volante and Inform in October. He was MD of Data Tec?s products, systems and services units.
- Novell may dip into its $1 billion cash pile to buy new products or technologies, president Joseph Marengi said. A new CEO should be announced in 30 to 60 days.
