Kandola leaves lion?s den after seven years

Product marketing director adds to Azlan?s staffing woes by becoming next in line of resignations

Azlan?s staffing problems have deepened this week after Nick Kandola, product marketing director, left after seven years at the distributor.

Kandola?s resignation comes at a crucial time for Azlan, which has recently seen at least nine staff resign, with five leaving in 10 days (PC Dealer, 16 July). The distributor is also attempting to get its shares reinstated as it sorts out unresolved accounting issues.

Talking to PC Dealer, Kandola confirmed that he had left the distributor, but said he had not made any future plans as yet. He said he will be dropping into the Azlan offices until his notice expires on 28 August.

Kandola refused to comment on whether his resignation was linked to Azlan?s financial situation.

Ed Arnett, Azlan MD for Northern Europe, said: ?Nick offered a notice period and in these circumstances it is sometimes best to let people go.?

Arnett added that he believed Kandola was looking to secure employment with a vendor. He insisted that no replacement had yet been named.

?We are going to name someone once we have come through this period,? he said.

Marcus Chorley, assistant director at SBC Warburg, Azlan?s broker, commented: ?People have been leaving in any case, and it wouldn?t surprise me if more left given the state the company is in.?

During his seven years at the distributor, Kandola has worked in a variety of positions, including director of Azlan?s systems and storage business. His final promotion took place at the beginning of this year, when Kandola took over Geoff Bough?s role of product marketing director.

Azlan is expected to have its shares reinstated within the next few weeks, although the distributor was unable to give a clear indication when exactly it would happen. When its shares were first suspended on 13 June, the distributor claimed it would take about six weeks to resolve the issues.
