Imago partners with Philips and Panasonic
Distributor signs with two new vendors while axing previous deal
Video communications distributor Imago has inked plasma screen and LCD deals with Philips and Panasonic, but has bid farewell to Pioneer.
Ian Vickerage, managing director of Imago, told CRN: “We’d had a relationship with Pioneer for a number of years, but it had been tailing off. Pioneer’s emphasis seemed to be mainly on its consumer products and we weren’t going to change our strategy to focus on consumers.
“Panasonic has got a commitment to its business-to-business (B2B) products. We will stock Panasonic’s plasmas and LCDs but will focus predomin-antly on its plasmas to start with.”
Imago will stock both Philips LCDs and plasmas.
“The Philips brand name is very well known and it also has very strong technology because it has its own plants,” Vickerage said.
Neil Colquhoun, European sales manager, Panasonic’s professional plasma business unit Europe, said: “Imago brings to us a wealth of experience and specialisation that complements our existing line-up.”
Vickerage told CRN: “In the B2B sector there is a strong demand for LCDs and plasmas; they are very important for videoconferencing or video streaming so we have to have the right products for our VARs.”
