Radius joins Packet's circle
Irish services company charged with managing and growing Bloxx maker's channel
Web filtering vendor Packet Dynamics has appointed Irish services company Radius Technologies to manage its European and UK channel.
Packet Dynamics, which manufactures the Bloxx range of web filtering appliances, is also looking to increase its channel, both in Europe and worldwide.
"The role of Radius Technologies is to identify, recruit and manage our distribution channels for us. Radius has excellent links in Europe and beyond, and we already work well with its team," said Eamonn Doyle, managing director of Packet Dynamics.
Jerry Buckley, managing director of Radius, which also works with anti-spam vendor Barracuda Networks, said his company is already recruiting new reseller and distributor partners for Packet Dynamics' channel programme.
"We are eventually looking to sign up four distributors in the UK - specialist and broadline firms and their respective resellers," he said.
Buckley added that the firm is also signing Bloxx resellers in Holland and Germany.
"Packet Dynamics has a scalable product with Bloxx, catering for firms up to enterprise level. With new legislation this year that means company directors are liable for what staff view on the internet, the need for this type of appliance is increasing," he said.
Buckley claimed the product is enjoying success in the education, corporate and local government markets. "It is just the type of product resellers like to get their hands on. The products can be customised for individual customers or installed pre-configured and pre-set," he said.
According to analyst IDC, the security market will be lucrative in 2005, with the UK and Ireland set to more than double spending.
Duncan Brown, director of consulting at IDC, said: "Enterprises are increasingly aware of the potential threats. As the complexity of IT infrastructures has increased, so has the sophistication of security threats."
