Watt surges to the helm of Actebis

Graeme Watt to take over as chief executive towards the end of the first quarter of 2004

Graeme Watt is gearing up to take over from Joe Hemani as chief executive of Actebis/Westcoast towards the end of the first quarter of 2004.

Westcoast chairman Hemani took over as Actebis chief executive in September with the intention of gaining full ownership of the pan-European distributor by the end of the year. The takeover makes the firm the third-largest distributor in Europe.

Watt resigned as president of Tech Data's European operation in October to "pursue other interests".

"I would not have left Tech Data if I didn't think Actebis was a tremendously exciting opportunity. Actebis has had some well-publicised difficulties over the past two years, but I am confident for the future," Watt said.

Nitin Joshi, partner at PKF, said: "Graeme Watt will make a substantial contribution in driving the business forward. This is a chance to put Actebis on the radar."
