Becta approval to land Cyberoam top marks

Cyberoam claims the Becta accreditation will give it considerable cachet in the education sector

Popat: The accreditation will dispel any doubts people have

Unified threat management (UTM) vendor Cyberoam has claimed an impending Becta accreditation will help its resellers grab more deals in the education sector.

The India-based firm has earmarked education as a push area, claiming its identity-based technology is a natural fit for vertical.

Cyberoam has already won several high-profile UK education deals, including one with Oundle School. It hopes the Becta accreditation - which it is due to receive within a month - will open more doors for its channel partners.

UK country manager Kunal Popat said: “This will make Cyberoam an easy sale for them and will dispel any doubts people have.”

Cyberoam recently launched free training for partners and there are now 40 Cyberoam Certified Network Security Professionals in the UK. From Q3, its focus will move to co-op funding; it has already signed off co-funded events with two resellers.

Mukesh Gupta, managing director of Cyberoam’s sole UK distributor e92plus, claimed more schools will roll out identity-based UTM solutions.

“Students need to be identified by their username, not IP address,” he said. “As they move around school, policies are applied regardless where they log in.”
