Microsoft takes VAR to court
Civil proceedings against reseller directors for dealing in counterfeit software
Microsoft has initiated civil proceedings against the directors of a reseller for dealing in counterfeit software.
The company's investigators have claimed that Andrew Rowe and Nicola Holbrook-Hench, directors of Loughborough-based NikByte Computers, purchased counterfeit Microsoft software and licences from illegal suppliers.
Mike Lawrence, managing director of Microsoft reseller Bentpenny, supported the vendor's attempts to reduce fraud. But he added: "It must stop coming down like a tonne of bricks [on those that unknowingly buy couterfeit software] to get more industry support."
