BridgeHead cures backup pain

Royal Chelsea Hospital completes deployment of a data archiving and backup solution

The Royal Chelsea Hospital (RCH) has completed its deployment of a data archiving and backup solution, based around BridgeHead Software’s data archiving and backup integrated storage management platform.

The deployment, which was carried out by BridgeHead partner ASG, is part of a £35m RCH renovation project. The RCH claimed the roll-out will ensure both an audit trail of email communication and compliance with data retention regulations.

Isabel Prieto-Cordero, IT and telecommunications manager at the RCH, said: “We were amazed by what we could do with the full BridgeHead product set. This gives us the ability to potentially expand our archiving plans to include all of our data.”

The RCH wanted to ensure it has a high level of data availability for its archive. Previously, it was accustomed to setting aside an entire day to recover failed servers. However, the hospital claimed it has now reduced that time down to less than one hour.

Tony Cotterill, managing director of vendor BridgeHead Software, told CRN: “We have completed the initial stages of the installation and there are some more training stages to follow. The RCH has to meet compliancy regulations. It saw that we are able to store and archive both email and file data.”
