F-Secure reports profits up

Security firm cites strategy and employees as reasons for growth

F-Secure last week reported strong profitable growth for its second quarter 2005, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of growth.

The firm claimed its “successful execution of its strategy” was the main factor for growth, which saw its anti-virus business increase by 40 per cent to £13.9m.

Turnover for the quarter grew to £14.7m, with profit standing at £1.5m. The firm also grew its total number of employees by 27 per cent to 366. “The quality of our workforce remains a key factor of our success. The ability of our staff to be inventive and professional is of prime importance to our customers,” said Risto Siilasmaa, chief executive of F-Secure.

It also claimed it has a confident view of the future, and hailed 2005 as a “breakthrough year for delivering security as a service”. It claimed it will “continue to focus on developing its channel and service partners” both in Europe and North America.
