DataFort fixes price woes
Vendor reveals reasoning behind its fixed pricing delivery model
Marcie Terman: Customers do not want to be charged more as their data grows
Managed services provider DataFort has claimed customers will benefit from its decision to introduce a fixed pricing model for its off-site backup portfolio.
In the past year, the vendor has brought to market several products under its ByteBaq Professional brand that allow end users to employ a disaster recovery strategy for a flat yearly fee.
Marcie Terman, business development director at DataFort, said the change in pricing strategy was in response to end-user complaints about spiralling data backup costs.
“Under the per-GB model, customers will be charged more as the amount of data they need to back up grows and it is extremely difficult for customers to plan and budget for that,” Terman said.
Partners can charge what they like for the products, added Terman, but they must respect the vendor’s flat-fee pricing structure.
“We do not give resellers the chance to see how much data a customer needs to back up, something we do to protect against people altering our pricing plans,” he said.
