Avnet hit by Robertson departure

Distributor yet to name new country manager

Distribution giant Avnet lost its second senior executive within a matter of months last week. CRN has learned that Colin Robertson, country manager at Avnet Partner Solutions left the company after six and a half years ‘by mutual agreement’.

Avnet issued a statement to CRN that said: “[We] can confirm that Colin Robertson has left Avnet Partner Solutions. His contribution has been valued over the years and it was by mutual agreement that he has left Avnet with immediate effect. We are in the process of closing our financial year 2007 and are looking forward to what we are expecting to be a successful financial year 2008.”

A replacement for Robertson has yet to be announced.

The firm also lost its Italian country manager at Avnet Partner Solutions, Adolfo DellErba last week, and just six months ago CRN exclusively revealed that the firm lost president of Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA, Achim Apel.

Speculation is rife that the distribution giant is to undergo a restructure in the coming months to bring its brands under one simplified strategy.

Speaking to CRN before his departure, Apel said: “The [Avnet] business has grown by acquisitions so it’s important that the Avnet-specific cultural elements can be brought under one umbrella. This means we can have one infrastructure and a common set of rules and culture.”
