Bell chimes with D-Link's business push

Networking vendor adds distribution muscle with appointment of storage-focused broadliner

Chris Davies: We need new routes to market and more high-end reseller partners

D-Link has added broadliner Bell Micro to its distribution line-up to boost its standing in the business sector and increase its market share in the storage space.

Bell joins incumbent distributors Ingram Micro, EntaTech and Micro Peripherals. The Chessington-based firm has been tasked with signing up partners with advanced technical skills. Bell has also been signed to assist with the rollout of D-Link's recently launched Partner+ channel scheme.

The networking vendor's UK and Ireland general manager Chris Davies claimed the addition of Bell showed D-Link's increased focus on the business space. Known for its strength in the consumer arena, Davies pointed out that D-Link's UK channel is now "about 90 per cent business-oriented".

"We now have an entire new range of chassis switches, as well as a wide range of IP surveillance and storage products that have been added to the growing business portfolio,” he said. “Inevitably, this has meant that we need new routes to market and more high-end reseller partners to fulfil this increasing demand.”

Tom Ellis, business unit manager for storage solutions at Bell, added: “Bell Micro is very excited to be working with D-Link to grow its storage market share and business credentials in the UK. The product range it offers will allow us to truly offer end-to-end networking solutions to our customers."
