CA welcomes new chief and hails Q3 performance
Software vendor names William McCracken as chief executive and sees both profit and turnover rise
In the black: CA has seen net profit jump by 24 per cent
Software giant CA has appointed its new chief executive and posted strong results for its third quarter 2010 financials.
William McCracken, who was serving as chairman since the retirement of John Swainson in September last year, has taken the helm and now holds both the chief executive and chairman titles.
Revenue for the quarter jumped eight per cent to $1.12bn (£694m), compared with $1.04bn in Q3 2009. Net profit increased 24 per cent too $257m compared with $208m in the same quarter a year ago.
McCracken said: “We are very pleased with our third quarter performance. We achieved robust revenue growth, improved both GAAP and non-GAAP operating margins by a percentage point year-over-year, and reported strong cash flow from operations of $342m.
“We also continued to aggressively build our technology capabilities to help customers optimise the effectiveness of their IT,” he added. “Over the past few months, CA has introduced a number of new and enhanced products in the security, IT management, virtualisation and automation spaces, and made investments to bolster our cloud computing offerings by acquiring NetQoS and Oblicore. These moves strengthen our position as a leader in next-generation infrastructure management.”
CA is due to hold its CA World event in Last Vegas this May, which includes a strong channel focus with its Partner Forum.
