Phoenix secures its pension

VAR set to supply Department of Work and Pensions for the next four years

IT services company Phoenix IT Group has secured the renewal of a contract to supply the Department of Work and Pensions with IT support until 2010.

The reseller's existing contract to supply the government department with desktop maintenance has in previous years been worth in the region of £12m, however the new contract is thought to be worth £8m this year.

The contract forms part of a framework agreement between IT services company EDS and Phoenix, however the services company is also expecting further revenue reductions in 2007 through the contract.

Nick Robinson, chief executive of Phoenix IT, said the deal would " strengthen its relationship with EDS".
