BT Engage IT in office closure rumours
BT's mid-market reseller arm shuts down Wood Lane office and is believed to be closing its Reading office
Staff at BT Engage IT are rumoured to be up in arms after the telecoms giant closed its Wood Lane-based office in central London.
CRN understands the firm is also set to close its Reading-based office in the near future.
The Wood Lane site was occupied by former staff of Basilica, which BT acquired in August 2007. They have since been relocated down the road to its Newgate Street office.
One source close to the company said: “There are quite a few unhappy people at BT Engage IT right now.”
CRN understands that the closures are part of a cost-cutting drive to save about £1m.
BT declined to comment as this article went to press.
One reseller, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “We have had quite a few CVs from BT Engage IT staff land on our doormat recently.
"The problem is that the reseller market cannot be squashed into a low-commission, automated industry process and it seems that this is what BT is trying to do.”
