Oracle approves new Auspex file server
Resellers welcome incremental business opportunities
Network attached storage (Nas) developer Auspex Systems announced last week that its new NS3010 file server has received validation from Oracle to work with the latter's database environments.
The validation was received after testing the environment with the Oracle Nas test suite to discover if the Auspex server could recover after hardware or software failures, without having any effect on the Oracle system.
Garry Elliott, UK managing director at Auspex, said: "It gives our channel partners the ability to offer another solution to the customer."
He added that the accreditation also releases some of the support burden for resellers. "If there is a problem with the Oracle environment or the network, as soon as Oracle finds out the solution isn't validated they wash their hands of it. Now Oracle will lend full support to us and our partners," he explained.
Ian Hill, product development manager at Ideal Hardware, said: "With this validation the more Oracle sites that have Auspex the better it will be for the Oracle community. If an Oracle database customer needs to grow its storage quickly, it is easy to add a Nas box and it is good incremental business for resellers."
