Dixons shows how the future will look
Computer related product grabbed more than 40% of display space at the Dixons Group's Insight event - a showcase of new technology which the high street giant plans to start selling over the next two years.
The event marked the UK's first public sighting of a Nintendo 64 console case, minus any circuitry or chips, and videos of Nintendo's forthcoming big games, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and Blast Dozer.
Store managers from Dixons, Currys, PC World, and The Link, city investors, and MPs including John Redwood and John Patten attended the event.
Dixons MD Colin Glass said the amount of computer related product on display represented the change in technology rather than what sold well today. He pointed out digital cameras that can be linked to PCs as an area of potential growth for computer retailers.
