CTX has designs on LCDs
Monitor firm unveils designer panels
Monitor manufacturer CTX has taken the wraps off its first generation of designer LCD panels for the corporate and consumer markets.
The P-series and F-series of 17in and 19in LCDs are aimed at business users and consumers respectively, and were designed by Just Blue, the German firm behind the Hugo Boss perfume bottle.
CTX is hoping to use "innovative design and leading-edge technology" to differentiate itself in "an increasingly cutthroat marketplace".
"As the market becomes crowded, consumers are asking for monitors with innovative, stylish designs that look good but still deliver high-quality performance and technology," said Marlies Smeenk, European marketing manager at CTX.
The F-series consumer models will be the first to boast CTX's Neon-Life Visual Technology, which incorporates colour enhancement for brighter colours and contrast and the firm's Sharp-Cut technology for more detailed pictures.
They will also sport a Multi-Gamma Mode to switch the picture to different image modes depending on source. The F773 and F773L 17in monitors will be available in August, while the 19in F973 and F973L are due in September.
The P-series business range will kick off in August with the 17in P772 and P772L, the latter without a Digital Video Interface (DVI) connection. It comes with a mechanical engine housed in the foot of the monitor for easy adjustment. This allows for vertical lift, forward/backward tilt, left/right pan swivel and portrait/landscape pivoting.
Like the F-series, the P-series offerings have a 1,280 x 1,024 display matrix, contrast ratio of 500:1, 16ms response time, DVI and horizontal/vertical viewing angles of 140 degrees.
"Businesses are demanding highly aesthetic and versatile yet environmentally friendly office technology," said Jordan Popov, European product manager at CTX.
"The P-series has been designed with a '3E concern concept'. This is aimed at ecological, ergonomic and energy-saving improvements, such as the height-adjustable stand and the reduction of crash and electromagnetic emissions."
Mike Farrah, senior business manager for audiovisual and displays at CTX distributor Ingram Micro, was enthusiastic about the monitors.
"The F and P LCD ranges will complement CTX's existing product portfolio. The P line offers just the specification demanded by the corporate user.
"The CTX brand is built on reliability, build quality and excellent service - all key factors for the discerning corporate user - and I think this stylish range could make quite an impact," he said.
