Wick Hill Banks on new sales director
Former Webroot and WatchGuard boss Nick Banks has been unveiled as replacement for outgoing Grant Taylor
Banks: Wick Hill's growth is based on their reputation for making markets for vendors
Security distributor Wick Hill claims its recent growth spurt helped it attract industry stalwart Nick Banks to the post of sales director.
Banks will fill the void left by Grant Taylor, who is exiting the distributor to take up a post at one of Wick Hill’s resellers.
Banks was most recently EMEA managing director of security vendor Webroot and before that spent eight years at key Wick Hill ally WatchGuard.
Wick Hill chairman Ian Kilpatrick described Banks’ appointment as a “coup” for the distributor.
“We are still on track to do over 30 per cent growth for our financial year ended April and I do not think we would have attracted him otherwise,” Kilpatrick told CRN.
There will be a short handover period between Banks and Taylor, who starts as sales director of an undisclosed security reseller in January.
“We are extremely appreciative of Grant’s contribution to our growth and we wish him all the best in his new role, where we will continue our relationship,” said Kilpatrick.
In a statement, Banks said: “I see this as a significant opportunity. I have worked with Wick Hill for many years, in my previous jobs, and have seen that their growth is based on their reputation for making markets for vendors and channel partners.”
Taylor added: “Growing sales at Wick Hill during the recession has been a major challenge and achievement. I am only leaving now because of the major opportunity ahead of me. I have enjoyed my time here and in my new role will continue to do business with Wick Hill.”
