Hulme named on paperwork for tribunals

Philip Hulme, co-founder of Computacenter, has been named in Employment Tribunal documents as further details emerge of industrial disputes hitting the reseller.

Hulme, who is also chairman of the reseller, has been named as second respondent on documents dated 27 May filed by Mark Sawicki, former general manager of maintenance at Computacenter.

PC Dealer exclusively revealed last week that former Computacenter employees had filed 10 cases of unfair dismissal, race discrimination or sex discrimination with the Employment Tribunal within the past two years (PC Dealer, 26 August).

Sawicki's case is heading for a preliminary hearing at the tribunal after he made a complaint of racial discrimination and registered his case in May.

Sawicki refused to comment on his case. Computacenter also refused to comment.

Meanwhile, PC Dealer has viewed documents presented to the tribunal relating to a settlement offered to former account manager Caroline Olds, who is awaiting a decision on her claim of sexual discrimination.

According to the documents, Olds was offered a settlement of #68,000 by Computacenter after initial hearings on the case and around the time the Employment Tribunal decided she had been unfairly dismissed.

However, Olds previously stated she would be seeking #1 million in compensation for lost earnings and share options.

In July, Olds said she had received letters until February this year from chief executive Mike Norris offering her reinstatement at Computacenter and some accounts to work on.
