Equiinet strengthens ties with education market

Appliance vendor signs distribution agreement with Telocator for SecurePilot and CachePilot products

Security appliance vendor Equiinet has signed a distribution agreement with Telocator to push it further into the education market.

Under the terms of the deal, Telocator will supply Equiinet’s SecurePilot and CachePilot appliances to its education reseller base.

Keith Baker, managing director at Equiinet said: “Our business in the education sector has traditionally been through a small number of strategic partnerships with some very large integration and service companies.

“The exciting new dimension is that we are being approached, in increasing numbers, by smaller VARs eager to supply our technology to their local community of schools. To meet these new channel business demands, we recognised that we needed the assistance of a specialist distribution organisation to complement our existing channels.”

Peter Hodgson, chief executive of Telocator said: “We are delighted to be strengthening our product portfolio with CachePilot and SecurePilot. Following recommendations by BECTA to extend network security to the boundary of the school LAN – SecurePilot provides this protection against hacking, viruses and spyware as well as providing greater control over website access, email policy and secure connectivity.

“We believe SecurePilot is a vital part of securing school networks and our initial channel feedback is very positive,” he said.

Telocator and Equiinet have already discussed joint marketing for channel recruitment and have put in place training and reseller accreditation programmes. Both sales and technical training courses for new resellers are being conducted throughout June at Equiinet's Swindon training centre.
