WatchGuard targets mid-market

Vendor revamps partner programme for mid-market onslaught

Network security vendor WatchGuard has unveiled its first major push into the mid-market and also tweaked its channel programme.

The firm has recently unveiled the new generation of its Firebox X Core and Peak appliances running its Fireware 9.0 software.

Stuart Henderson, vice-president of EMEA sales at WatchGuard, said: “Version 9.0 improves the competitiveness we provide on our appliances, and also gives our channels the opportunity to engage with different types of businesses and get more involved in solution sales.”

The vendor has also extended its co-op marketing provision for VARs, including extra funds to strengthen marketing campaigns and free marketing consultations.

“We have traditionally provided some of these funds to distributors in the past,” Henderson said. “But now we have extended that to our VARs.”

Ian Kilpatrick, director of Wick Hill Group, said: “WatchGuard owns the SME market place in the UK and this launch will help it compete in the wider market.”
